21 Damn Early Days - Day 2
IN BED BY 10:15PM. UP AT 4:14AM.
DAY 2 OF 21 DAMN EARLY DAYS WAS DEFINITELY A LITTLE BIT HARDER, BUT STILL AWESOME.
I’m going to go right out and say it: day 2 was definitely harder than day 1. Maybe it was a little bit of the initial hype wearing off or maybe it was the “less than 6 hours of sleep” I got. Either way, by 6:30PM I was definitely feeling it.
Regardless, day 2 was still unreal. This was the first “work day” of 21 Damn Early Days and having the free time in the morning was awesome. Getting up, grabbing coffee with G (unreal roommate that gets up at 4:30AM along side me), having some unreal chats (seriously... at one point we were talking about the moral landscape of the world – that shit was deep) and being in the gym for 5:30AM was liberating.
By the time I got out of the gym, it was not even 7AM and I had had my mind blown and my body destroyed. It was a solid way to start the day.
Getting after the day like that definitely set the tone for the rest of it. I just got after it and endlessly knocked off tasks on my (also endless) to-do list.
At about 3PM, I had completed most of what I wanted to do today and had a really cool realization: when you get up that early in the morning, you are getting up to get after life, not because the world tells you you should be getting up. While it seems simple, the thought of doing things on my terms was super empowering.
